Guess the NBA Player
A new mystery NBA player every day. Each guess shows how close you are on team, division, position and the player's points, rebounds and assists per game. You have 8 tries.
How the NBA player guessing game works
Guess the NBA Player is a daily NBA wordle: one mystery player, eight guesses. Type any current NBA player and the game compares them with the answer across six clues, so even a wrong guess narrows the field.
Green means a match. Yellow means close: the right division but the wrong team, the right conference but the wrong division, or a position that overlaps, like a guard when the answer is a guard-forward. On points, rebounds and assists per game, arrows tell you whether the answer's number is higher or lower.
The stat line is the twist. A 30-point scorer, a double-digit rebounder and a pass-first guard all leave a different fingerprint, so you are reading the box score as much as the roster. Averages cover the regular season across the last two seasons.
The daily answer is always an established starter, so it's someone a regular NBA fan has a fair chance of knowing. Everyone gets the same player each day, and it changes at midnight UTC. Unlimited mode deals a fresh player whenever you want, and hard mode opens the pool to every rotation player.
How to play
Make a guess
Start typing any current NBA player's name and pick them from the list.
Read the colors
Green is a match, yellow is close, grey is wrong. Each column is a separate clue.
Follow the arrows
On points, rebounds and assists, up means the answer averages more and down means fewer.
Narrow it down
Lock in the conference and division first, then use position and the stat line to find the player.
Share your score
Solve it in 8 guesses or fewer, then share your emoji grid without spoiling the answer.
Guess the NBA Player FAQ
How do you play Guess the NBA Player?▼
Guess any current NBA player. The game shows six clues comparing your guess with the mystery player: team, division, position, and points, rebounds and assists per game. Use them to find the answer within 8 guesses.
What do the yellow squares mean?▼
Close but not exact. On team it means the same division, on division it means the same conference, and on position it means the two positions overlap (G and G-F, or F and F-C). Points turn yellow within 3 per game, rebounds within 2 and assists within 1.5.
Is this an NBA wordle?▼
Yes. It works like Wordle for NBA players: one daily answer, a limited number of guesses and colored feedback after each try. Instead of letters you get clues about the player.
Which stats are used?▼
Points, rebounds and assists per game in the regular season, averaged across the last two seasons, so a player's numbers don't swing wildly after a few games. Preseason and playoff games are left out.
Is there an unlimited version?▼
Yes. Switch to Unlimited for a new random player every round. Hard mode widens the answer pool from the stars to every rotation player.
When does the daily NBA player change?▼
Every day at midnight UTC, which is 7 or 8 p.m. Eastern depending on daylight saving time. Everyone gets the same player on the same day.
Is Guess the NBA Player free?▼
Yes, it's free with no signup and no app to install. It works in any browser on phone or desktop.
