NFL playoff schedule FAQ

When do the NFL playoffs start?▼

Wild card weekend runs Saturday, January 16 – Monday, January 18, 2027, straight after the final regular-season week (week 18, ending January 9).

When and where is Super Bowl LXI?▼

Super Bowl LXI is on Sunday, February 14, 2027 at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California, with kickoff scheduled for 6:30 p.m. ET.

How many teams make the NFL playoffs?▼

Fourteen, seven from each conference: the four division winners, seeded 1 to 4 by record, and three wild cards, seeded 5 to 7.

Who gets a bye?▼

Only the number 1 seed in each conference. Everyone else plays on wild card weekend, which is why the race for the top seed matters so much.

When are the playoff matchups and kickoff times announced?▼

The NFL sets the wild card matchups as soon as the final regular-season games end, and announces the dates and times for each game that weekend. This schedule updates automatically as they are released.

Does the NFL reseed the playoffs?▼

Yes. After wild card weekend the 1 seed hosts the lowest remaining seed, so the bracket is not fixed in advance. Higher seeds host every game until the Super Bowl, which is at a neutral site.

Can I print the NFL playoff schedule?▼

Yes. Use Print / save as PDF above the schedule: only the schedule itself goes on the page, with kickoff times in the timezone you chose.
